ASSOS RS.STURMPRINZ CYCLING JACKET
The rS.sturmPrinz is the first Assos, cycling competition specific, high performance rainShell Jacket.
Use it as your outer shell over jersey and or jacket in rainy conditions. The sturmPrinz can also be used as an insulating shell, wearing it for long rides in cold temperatures.
The objective was not to make a 100% waterproof jacket because 100% waterproof also means 100% impermeable. At maximum exertion body perspiration is very active and the evaporation process must be proactive, it can’t be slowed excessively by your protective shell otherwise, within a short time, you would be in a small private sauna, sweating out all your essential salts and minerals. The Assos objective was to create the ideal rain jacket for high performance cycling, the optimum balance between insulation and protection without jeopardizing performance.
The sturmPrinz features 25 pattern pieces, 7 different textiles and 13 components. The main fabric is TRITON.
The Assos Textile Laboratory developed the TRITON family of fabrics to provide a superior impermeability / vapor-permeability ratio. TRITON fabrics are able to adapt to changes in ambient temperature thanks to "flexible membrane barrier technology" When the temperature is low the membrane reduces permeability helping to retain body heat. As the temperature inside the garment rises, the membranes pores open to allow accelerated vapor transfer. TRITON fabrics are composite textiles meaning the delicate inner TRITON membrane is protected by application specific inner and outer fabric layers that enhance the process of staying dry by allowing evaporation while protecting from the elements.
Elasticated shoulder inserts for increased freedom of movement. Ventilated upper rear panel. Pocket slots on the lower panel to allow access to the pockets in your jersey underneath. Taped seams on the front, shoulder and rear panels. Rear panel emergency pocket. Extended rear panel to protect your lower back. Adjustable fit elastic “snuggies” around the collar and wrists. Raving cut.
