In 1989 Light & Motion founders, Barrett Heywood and Michael Topolovac, started experimenting with underwater lighting systems. These dive enthusiasts were driven to build a company where designers would create innovative world-class products for a variety of sport specific applications.
By 1991, the company was shipping underwater video systems worldwide and had expanded into a 16,500 square foot, renovated sardine cannery overlooking the Monterey Bay. This one facility (located on historic Cannery Row) houses the CNC machine, moulding, assembly shops, and design offices. After a decade of designing and creating innovative underwater lighting products, Light & Motion returned to dry land.
Not far from the rolling wave breaks of Monterey, Light & Motion found opportunity on the single track of the Laguna Seca hills. In 1999, Light & Motion brought their proven experience and pioneering spirit to the world of cycling. The company’s products were met with an enthusiastic response and immediately revolutionised the bike light industry.
Included in the Light and Motion range are the Seca, Stella and Vis360 editions.
