Shift Levers also known as gear levers come in many different styles. We have Ergo levers and STI levers from Campagnolo and Shimano where the gear lever is combined with the brake lever, we have down tube levers from Shimano for the more traditional road bikes that have brazed on bosses on the down tube and we have bar end levers for time trial and triathlon bikes where the lever is literally fitted to the end of the handlebar extension so gear changes can be made while the rider is still in the aerodynamic, tucked position to increase speed.
